Who

I work with both children and adults from ages five and up.

I’ve been playing guitar for over eighteen years, while performing with various local bands for about fifteen years. I’m currently playing guitar in the 246 Army National Guard Band, which is located in Columbia, SC.

I was accepted to Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA and I was also a member of the South Carolina All State Jazz band in 1994. I performed with a Top 40 dance band called Tandem for two years. During this time I performed at Casino’s and large clubs all over the United States. After Tandem I came back to Columbia, SC where I began teaching guitar lessons at a well-known music store in Columbia, SC. At this time I was playing with the local bands “Soul Mites” and “Robins Cradle”. Some time in my mid twenties I decided to make a return back to my formal Jazz band days and joined the 246 Army National Guard band. Much to everyone’s surprise this has been a very good thing for my playing.

What

I specialize in teaching beginning and intermediate students on both the electric or acoustic guitar. I believe in having a teachers heart and enthusiasm for playing the guitar and trying to share this with my students. I encourage them to explore their own musical taste and not my own.

Some of my favorite artists include Steve Vai, Joe Pass, Eddie Van Halen, Wes Montgomery, Sting, Vince Gill, Journey, Steely Dan, Switch Foot and any thing else that’s new and musical. I have a broad interest in all styles of music and have enjoyed learning to play a wide variety of styles.
